Pro-D Book Policy
TEACHER PROFESSIONAL BOOKS
Contract teachers and TTOCs who have worked a minimum of 2 days in the previous pay period have access to a maximum of $150 in Pro-D books from their total Pro-D funds. These funds are approved on a first-come, first-served basis.
Professional books are targeted towards teachers, used for improving teaching practices. They show teachers how to teach a certain subject or concept or how to teach students with specific needs. They may focus on classroom management, assessment practices, child psychology or other topics related to teaching.
Books, videos, software, and teaching materials that are intended to be used directly in the classroom, or are methodologically supported by the district are not considered professional books and are not funded by the STA.
Professional books: Through the STA – Munro’s Catalogue, members, including those on a leave, can place an order once per semester (one order from November to January and one order from February to May) up to a total of $150 per school year.
If purchasing professional books outside the STA – Munro’s Catalogue, books must be pre-approved, are limited to $100 and additional fees from alternative vendors including, but not limited to, shipping will not be covered.
